SkypeIn Beta for Incoming Calls with Voicemail Included

March 12, 2005  |  Webtech  |

Looks like the wait is over! While Skype reports that over a million users, including me, are using SkypeOut to place calls to regular landlines, Engadget picked up a rumor about SkypeIn: SkypeIn in beta — Engadget:

…we’re way more interested in the more stealthy news that they’re testing a new beta which supports SkypeIn, which lets people with regular phone lines call you. A year of SkypeIn will set you back €30, and so far the only phone numbers you can score are from France, the UK, the US, and Hong Kong, but you don’t actually have to live in one of those countries to get one of those numbers and they do throw in a free subscription to Skype Voicemail.”

Stuart Henshall at SkypeJournal reports about his first tests with SkypeIn Beta and Andrew Hansen  writes about SkypeIn here.

I’ve been succesfully using Teleo for incoming calls with a Ft. Lauderdale number, as I posted here. Of course, the problem is Teleo has far fewer users compared to Skype.

So … Interested in SkypeIn Beta? You can get it here.

Here’s a quick guide  (Adobe Acrobat) I made of the City/State for the US Area Codes SkypeIn proposes, since it’s not on their signup form.
