On the one hand, it’s fun to do a video-conference, particularly when you’re on a professional setup, as with my friends at g2j.com: great quality, service and international setup … you can’t go wrong. On the other hand, I just had my first flashmeeting, a webcam multi-user video-conference with friends that resembled an IRC chat, with video! That is, a synchronous multi-user communication forum, with video. IRC has its advantages and flashmeeting is still lacking most of the functions that makes IRC work well, including robots, logging and much more … but multi-user videochatting is compelling. I don’t know what a 150 person conference might look like, but the experience with 15 people was … really a lot of fun! When’s the next one?
