I participate in a niche social network, at the Nike/Orkut Joga.com site. I think there will be more niche social networks, like mychurch.org, just like there&#039;s an important place for specialized forums and a good reason for vertical search providers.

I think the real question is, is it better to create a group (a &quot;niche&quot;) in a more general and large social network, or to create a standalone niche social network about the same topic? What would the difference be? Might there be more diversity in the groups, and more &quot;experts&quot; in the niche network?
