Mozilla is a non-profit orga­ni­za­tion to their core. This makes it harder, so you have to do your best to remain com­pet­i­tive. We have embraced HTML5 because it can com­pete with pro­pri­etary tech­nolo­gies and it inte­grates well with the web. There is a learn­ing curve, but it’s based on exist­ing lan­guages that are well known: HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Here’s an exam­ple of what you can do, using live data from LeWeb, includ­ing tweets and videos:
