I am the co-founder of StartPR, an online tracking service for reputation management, blogger relations, and brand monitoring. StartPR helps you to notice and engage with people who are mentioning you and your products online.

I advise businesses and organizations on their use of social networks and social media to build community relationships and brand. I also design and manage social networks, including business planning, technology selection, wireframing, development, and community management.

I am currently developing a worldwide online medical community, VoxMed, an environment where healthcare professionals may discuss clinical symptoms, treatments, and prevention.

I am an adjunct professor at the University of Miami; I occasionally teach a semester-long class on social media. Students from the School of Communication, including aspiring journalists and PR professionals, explore social media topics and case studies involving online identity and expression, community engagement, brand building, and citizen journalism. I work with the Knight Center for International Media as well on a number of projects. I also teach a continuing education course at Miami Dade College, on blogging and social media.

Finally, I organize regular South Florida web and technology meetups, including RefreshMiami, BarCampMiami, MobileMondayMiami, and Social Media Club South Florida

An Insead MBA, I speak English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Finnish. Previously, I’ve directed business development efforts at online media and mobile content companies and also co-founded a leading European application services provider specialized in permission-based direct marketing. Prior to that, I advised blue-chip American, European, and Asian companies on strategy and organization, while at a major consultancy.

I am also into mountain biking, windsurfing, and photography.

Based in Miami, Florida, Alex advises on social media related projects and builds social networks from business planning to launch. Alex is currently developing VoxMed, a worldwide online community for physicians. He is the co-founder of StartPR, an online tracking service for reputation management, blogger relations, and brand monitoring. He is also an adjunct professor teaching social media at the University of Miami, School of Communications, and at Miami-Dade College.
