The idea for StartPR grew out of a need for bet­ter blog­ger rela­tions. Peo­ple are engaged in con­ver­sa­tions with each other about your com­pany, your brands, your prod­ucts and your ser­vices. Adjunct Pro­fes­sor, Uni­ver­sity of Miami School of Communication

I am an adjunct pro­fes­sor at the Uni­ver­sity of Miami; I teach a semester-long class on social media to aspir­ing jour­nal­ists and PR pro­fes­sion­als. We explore social media top­ics and case stud­ies involv­ing online iden­tity and expres­sion, com­mu­nity engage­ment, brand build­ing, cit­i­zen jour­nal­ism, and the Web 2.0 tools and ser­vices that make it all pos­si­ble. Social Media Workshops

Increas­ingly, com­pa­nies, PR firms, and inter­ac­tive agen­cies are meet­ing, talk­ing about, and some­times ques­tion­ing the the sig­nif­i­cance of social media and the impact it will have on busi­ness mar­ket­ing, PR, and com­mu­ni­ca­tions. Every­one has heard of a high-profile suc­cess or mis­fire of a social-media program.

I con­duct work­shops to bring peo­ple up to speed on the his­tory, cul­ture, tech­nol­ogy, and plat­forms of social media. By the end of the work­shop, pro­fes­sion­als will have the tools, skills, and under­stand­ing to bet­ter eval­u­ate their company’s and their own options and strate­gies going for­ward.
